TYPES OF COMMONLY USED LED BULBS

Ever wondered what shapes LED bulbs come in? Did you know that there is more than just the normal light bulb shape? This post talks about the commonly used LED bulbs in Singapore. Some you may even see in your home, or at shopping malls.

1. The GLS LED Bulb

General Lighting Service, or GLS for short, is a conventional design of light bulbs which has been used since the early twenties. Till this date, it is the most popular design in residential and commercial fixtures. It has both dimming and non-dimming versions. The common base is either a E27 (screw) or B22d (bayonet).

The Philips LEDBulb E27 is just one example of that.

2. The Candle LED Bulb

Inspired by the shape of a flame, the candle LED bulb was born. It’s most commonly used in decorative fixtures like chandeliers and wall lights to create a “burning flame” effect from a candle fire. It has both dimming and non-dimming versions.  The common base is either a E14(screw) (majority of all Candle LED Bulbs), E27 (screw) or B22d (bayonet).

Take a look at the Philips Master LEDCandle and imagine how similar it is to a flame.

3. The Ping Pong LED Bulb

Rounder than a GLS LED Bulb, the Ping Pong LED Bulb got its name derived for its design. To better differentiate it from the GLS LED Bulb, the Ping Pong LED Bulb is much rounder and similar to the shape of a ping pong ball, and is most commonly used in decorative fixtures, wall lights and space constraint fixtures. It has both dimming and non-dimming versions.  The common base is either a E14 (screw) or E27 (screw). At Kum Eng Huat, we pride ourselves on carrying a large variety of lighting solutions.

The Philips Master LEDLustre that we carry comes in 2 screws – E14 and E27.

4. The Globe LED Bulb

Created for decorative purposes, the Globe LED Bulb has a wide diameter size. It is usually put up without a fixture to showcase its distinctive shape and glow brightness. Its common diameter includes G95 – 95mm and G125 – 125mm.
This design is created for decorative purpose. Due to the wide diameter size it is usually put up without a fixture to show its distinctive shape and glow brightness. Usual diameter will be G95 – 95mm and G125 – 125mm. It has both dimming and non-dimming versions. The common base is a E27 (screw).
